About EZ Internet

EZ Internet answers one question properly: what internet service can you actually get at your address, and is it worth what it costs?

What we built

Most “compare providers” sites show you the providers that pay them. We started from the FCC Broadband Data Collection instead — the dataset every provider in the United States is legally required to file — and built coverage pages for more than 31,000 ZIP codes and 2,500 providers from it. If a provider reports service at your address, it appears in your results, whether or not we have any relationship with it.

On top of that sit provider profiles, head-to-head comparisons and city pages for 239 metro areas, with speeds and starting prices from published provider pricing, each carrying the date it was last checked.

What we are

We are an independent retailer and comparison site. We are not an internet service provider, a cable company or a telecommunications carrier, and we are not owned by one.

We list 29 providers in detail and can place an order by phone with some of them; each provider’s page says which. For the rest we will tell you what is available and send you to the provider. Our help costs you nothing — the provider pays us a commission when an order goes live, and you pay the provider’s own price; we never add a markup. A few provider promotions are online-only and can’t be ordered by phone, and we tell you when that applies.

What that means for what you read here

Commission creates an obvious incentive, so here is how we handle it. Rankings and coverage come from FCC filings and published pricing, not from who pays us. A provider we cannot sell is still shown at your address when the data puts it there, and on a comparison page we say outright when we have nothing to gain from the provider that happens to be the better fit. Every provider page states our relationship with that provider before it states anything else.

The honest limits

FCC coverage is self-reported by providers at the census-block level, which can overstate availability at one specific house. Prices move, and promotional rates move fastest. Roughly 31,400 ZIP code areas carry FCC data at all — PO-box and similar ZIPs have no row. So treat this site as a shortlist, and let the provider confirm the address before anything is ordered. That is exactly what happens when you call us.
