Home security from Xfinity

Xfinity Home Security, confirmed address by address.

Security is not part of the FCC broadband filings, so there is no public map for it. Xfinity confirms availability and price for the street address, and the monitoring runs 24/7 once the system is in.

The service

What Xfinity’s monitoring plan includes

Six parts, as Xfinity describes them: people on watch, stored video, a backup connection, app and TV control, and a no-contract route on eligible plans.

Round-the-clock monitoring

Xfinity’s monitoring agents watch for alerts at all hours. When a sensor trips they review it, contact you, and call emergency services if it is needed.

Cloud-stored video

Camera recordings upload to the cloud automatically and stay for up to approximately 7 days, viewable from a phone or computer.

Backup when power or internet fails

A cellular backup link keeps the system reporting through a power cut or an internet outage.

App control

The Xfinity app arms the system, shows live camera feeds, locks compatible doors and sends alerts wherever you are.

A no-contract route

On eligible plans there is a way to start with no long-term contract. Which no-contract options exist at your address is something we confirm with Xfinity.

Status on the TV screen

Households with Xfinity TV can pull up the alarm status and camera views with the Voice Remote; no extra app is required.

Devices

Devices that connect to the system

Equipment is sold separately from the monitoring rate, so the device list shapes the total. Compatibility depends on the building, which is why we check before quoting.

  • Cameras and video doorbells

Indoor, outdoor and doorbell cameras in HD record continuously or on motion, with footage kept in the cloud. A doorbell camera puts the visitor on your phone screen.

  • Door, window and lock control

Sensors on doors and windows send an alert when one opens unexpectedly, and compatible smart locks let you grant or remove access remotely instead of hiding a spare key.

  • Professional monitoring

With 24/7 professional monitoring, an agent reviews each alert before emergency services are involved, which cuts down on false alarms.

Security questions

Before you add monitoring

The sensor’s signal (a door opening, motion, smoke) reaches a monitoring station that is staffed at all hours. There the alert is checked and you get a call; if that call cannot establish that everyone is safe, local emergency services are contacted for you. Procedures vary, so we confirm Xfinity’s current ones for your plan.

A typical core system is a hub, door and window sensors and a keypad, with cameras, smart locks and motion detectors added to suit the layout. Whether it all works depends on the building’s construction and wiring, so we go through your home before quoting.

Not always: some eligible setups have monitoring without a long-term commitment. How long a contract runs, what leaving early costs and which plan lengths exist all depend on the package and your location, and we go through them with you before activation.

Recordings generally sit in the cloud for approximately 7 days on standard plans, longer on upgraded ones. Access is through your account login, so footage stays yours unless you share it. Storage length and access follow Xfinity’s current service agreement, which we check for you.
